Three months before the 2010 staging of Earth Day festivities the director of its organizing agency stepped down. With only scant records in its files of Earth Days past, we were contracted to stage the event. A project manager was assigned to work with agency staff and volunteers. Sponsors, vendors, entertainers, site volunteers, suppliers and permits were rounded up, publicity was generated and Earth Day 2010 was staged. In the teeth of a cold drizzling day, the outdoor event scored a near-record attendance.
